We Vow to "Just Say No!"

What a great Red Ribbon Rally we had today! Students could wear a team shirt or red to show that they promise to be drug free...we had 100% class participation, too! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Red Ribbon Week

Don't forget that students may dress down tomorrow IF they wear a team shirt (or a red uniform shirt) and jeans. I also wanted to share a picture of our brand new AR hats! Students who met their first nine weeks' goal got hats today and stars to designate their current point club. Those who have not yet met their goals are working hard to earn their hats in December. Please remember to read nightly with your child.

Story, Spelling, and Sight Word Tests

Just wanted to remind you that tomorrow we will test on our story and related skills. I know everyone will make a 100 on each test since we worked on this story for two weeks! Make sure you review all sight words learned to date. Have a great evening and don't forget to read an AR book tonight.

Welcome Lesly!

We are so excited to welcome Lesly to our class! Lesly is not new to JME, but today was her first day in our classroom. Everyone loved showing her around the room and helping her get adjusted. We are glad to have you in our class!

Alice Grew Big and Alice Grew Small...

I can't get that tune out of my head! If you missed "Sing Me a Story" this week, you missed some great singing and performing. We wrapped up yesterday with two shows, and I think all were impressed with how well the 1st and 3rd grade students performed. I had to take another two photos yesterday since we had two students absent during our first show on Wednesday. You know that they can't be serious for too long, so I had to take a silly one too!

I almost forgot! Due to all of our shows and practices this week, we will not be testing on our story, spelling, and sight words today. We will work on all of this again next week. Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Sing Me a Story

Today was the first performance of our fall music program "Sing Me a Story". It was a great show, and it was so much fun to see so many parents come to support us! Don't forget that we have two shows scheduled for tomorrow at 9:15 and 12:30. Please plan to attend one show if you couldn't make it today. Here is a photo of our class dressed in their pj's right before the performance. Not only do they look cute, but they also did an amazing job! I am so proud of them.

Happy Friday...Oops, It's Thursday!

I love long weekends! I am sure you do as well. Before I leave today, I decided I better catch up on my blogging. It seems like every time I sit down to post, something comes up, and I forget to come back to it. I was just going through some pictures on my camera and decided I better post a few of these now before they are too old. As you can see, we are learning many things in class. These first few are some math activities from the past few weeks. We were completing addition and subtraction word problems using the SMARTBoard. They were getting very good at picking out the key words and manipulating the pictures to solve the problems.

Here, we were working on using new sight words in sentences.

I'll try to do better about posting more frequently! Can you believe we are 1/4 of the way through with the year already?
