Goodbye Summer!

This is the last Friday night of summer vacation. I am a little sad to see it go so quickly, but I am also excited to start a new year. My family and I took advantage of this last week and enjoyed some family time at the beach in Florida. The weather wasn't so great everyday, but we managed to find plenty to do. I really enjoyed getting away from my computer and all of the work I manage to find if I am at home. I keep telling myself to enjoy this last weekend before school starts, but I know I won't be able to resist going to work in my classroom. There is just so much to do and so little time left. Look for those "before" and "after" classroom pictures in my next post. It really has come a long way in a short time.

New Look on Blog

You can always tell around my house when it is summer vacation. I usually get stuff done that has been put off until school is out. This year has been a little different though since I am returning to the classroom at a new school. That means work, work, work for me. After spending most of the week unpacking and working in my classroom, I decided to spend the weekend working on some paperwork for school. Unfortunately, I got sidetracked playing with my blog and decided to totally redesign it. I know I should have been doing other things, but I better do it now because I won't have time in about two weeks. Anyway, let me know what you think. I was inspired by the colors in my classroom...you will know what I mean soon!

Getting Ready

School just got out last week, but I am already looking forward to next year. I went to pick up the key for my classroom and was excited to see the room for the first time. Think I might share the "before" and "after" photos later this summer. I hope the change is drastic when you see the classroom for the first time in August!

About Mrs. McCallar

Hi! I am so excited to be teaching 1st grade this year at Joseph Martin Elementary! This will be my 10th year working in the Liberty County School System. I have taught kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grade gifted, and worked at the Pre-K Center as a media specialist and resource coordinator. I hold a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education from Brewton-Parker College, an M. Ed. in Instructional Technology from Georgia Southern University, and I am currently working on my Ed. S. in the same field at GSU. When I am not working or going to school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband Greg is a teacher at Snelson-Golden Middle School and our daughter Dayle is now in 6th grade at SGMS as well.
